Taylor Guitars

Taylor Guitars is a company that specializes in making acoustic guitars, semi-hollow body guitars, and solid body guitars. Taylor guitars was founded in 1974 in El Cajon, California, by Bob Taylor, and Kurt Listug. In 1972 Bob Taylor worked at American Dream, a guitar shop owned by Sam Radding. Kurt Listug was already an employee at the company. Sam Radding decided to sell the buisness in 1974, Bob Taylor, Kurt Listug, and Schemmer bought the company, and renamed it Westland Music Company. The company named was changed to Taylor, so the name could fit on the headstock, and it sounded the most American of the three. In 1981, Taylor Guitars took out a loan because of financial difficulties. As of today Taylor Guitars has 550 employees, and has another company in Tecate, Mexico.
