The radial arm saw is a machine consisting of a circular saw mounted on a sliding horizontal arm. The radial arm saw was invented by Ramon DeWalt in 1922. The radial arm saw was the main tool for cutting long pieces of stock, until 1970 when the power miter saw came out. A dado blade can be put on the radial arm saw to make dados, rabbets, or half lap joints.
