When did the Patriots join the NFL?

The Patriots started in the American football League in 1960.  The New England patriots joined the NFL in 1970.  The New England Patriots have gone to six Super Bowls, 1986, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2007.  the Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2001, 2003, and 2004.  The Patriots lost the Super Bowl in 1986, 1997, and 2007.
